Hi Steve I think Eelco de Groot hits the nail on the head here. We can all see how these programs perform on fast hardware but the crux is how good are they on slower equipment. As Eelco has pointed out Mark Uniacke has worked hard on Hiarcs to iron out small flaws which show up when his program ran on slow hardware. These faults always iron themselves out on fast hardware but when the ply are only reaching 6 or 7 on slow chips these faults are not found until too late. Mark has made a massive effort to get Hiarcs working correctly early on in the search and this has paid dividends. I don’t know whether other programmers have gone down this road or not. It will be interesting to see. I suppose it is like taking all the top Formula one (or Indy car) drivers and putting them in a small family hatchback and betting on the result! Best Clive
