I don't see how you're going to finish each round in 36 minutes at a 15+5 time control. I'd guess there will be at least one long (80-100 move) game per round. You probably also need at least 5 minutes between rounds just to do the pairings, get the games started, etc. But lets say you're right and that 8 hours is doable. Then why do we need to start so early? You're asking west coast USA (GMT-8) to start at 3am just so the event can be done by 8pm for most of Europe (GMT+1). Seems unfair. I'd vote for starting 3-4 hours later. -Peter
