Go up one level in this thread
Fernando, I have Fritz 8 (Bilbao Engine) and run on slow hardware (Intel Celeron 2Ghz + 512MB RAM). I have found one tweak that seems to get me better results when playing 3 to 5 minute blitz on chessbase against other engines. This is to change the Selectivity from the default 2 up to 3 (this also gets me a higher Fritzmark rating on my PC). I am guessing that the reason this works for me is that as I have slower hardware than a lot of my opponents, by increasing selectivity to the higher level, it means I search less lines but the ones I do I search to deeper level. Hence there is some risk in missing lines but on balance I have increased my ELO by about 50 points for blitz with this tweak. I would be interesteed in anyone elses opinion.
