Neil, did you get this version by download? I have it too, from AI Factory. But this version, at least the one I downloaded, has no opening book! Here's CSTal II with opening book and endgame tablebases: (this version is called "champion chess" but it is CSTal II) http://www.mindscape.co.uk/products/ProductInfo.asp?pid=251 There are two other versions, which you can get at amazon.com, for cheap: "10 Pro Board Games" Has opening book but doesn't support tablebases. Read my nifty review! Haha....This CD-Rom also has bridge, connect four, go, shogi, go-moku, Chinese chess, checkers, backgammon, and reversi.) "Tournament Chess" also at amazon.com. This has the most attractive GUI, and has the opening book, but no tablebases. All of these versions work fine on Win XP with Service Pack 2. At least on my computer. (Intel Celeron @ 2.0 GHz) warm regards Mikey
