Everyone but the computer knew how long the matches were. The point of the above has nothing to do with who knew how long the match was the point being to debunk the wholly faulty presumption by some people that a loss by a single point in the last game of a short match is a blow out, and that it shows some definite superiority in strength. I paraphrase the person above "tore kasp a new A!@##$$" which is patently ridiculous, when in fact to lose by 1 point in a very very short math of 6 games shows really nothing at all. This is quite evident when one could show that if the kasparov vs Anand match had been stopped after 9 rounds there wouldn't have been too many people saying Anand was the better player and everyone would have simply been talking about how short the match was and that no world championship match had ever been so short. Here however deep blue takes the lead in a super short tournament and is branded "could give God knight odds" and win status, which is again quite a ridiculous way to look at the match.
