Yes - that is true -- homeland security will ask people if they are a terriost. It may seem like a incredible stupid question, to your point, who would say "yes". But most people, when they are deceptive (i.e. not answering truthfully) disply tell-tale signs of deception. A trained interrogator may be able to observe. So even answering the question with a "no' may provide clues. Hard to imagine what clues maybe picked up over the phone as most clues are more physical in nature and need to observed. This is a standard question they ask and comedians in the US make fun of this all the time. But it may serve a purpose even when the question is answered untruthfully. There is a list of names of known terriosts. If your name matches the list , you may have problems. Welcome to the post 9/11 world in the US.
