Just wondering, kind of in general about the issue of king safety, can changes
like these not make the program a little too optimistic on behalf of the
attacking side, a bit like Junior (at least my version 8)?

Are there clever ways to make an engine more alert to tactical possibilites
without it affecting negatively its current max depth evaluation? (I mean like,
it finds crucial attacking moves at, say, depth 5 or 6 faster, but does not
evaluate resulting positions at max depth too optimisticly.)

I understand that the wishes of a human performing computer-assisted analysis
may differ from just raw engine-engine strength.
