Subject: Fritz 9 through the mailbox (and crashed on the floor)

Installed the (almost complete version) on XP-pro.
Didn't bother to install DX9.c (was already installed, right...) So the 3D
chess-Turk is not available... ("You must install directx 9.c from the DVD!")
Trying to install dx9 after the instalation from the DVD... "DX9 is already
installed"
Trying to start the 3D display again.. "you must install.. etc."

Oh well, 3D is not important anyway.. :/

Very first impressions:

Icons have changed, you know: "new game", "change engine" etc.
"new game" now actually flips the board... didn't happen on my older installs..
Turned it off btw... :)

UCI.dll is now UCINet.dll version 2.0.1.0

Fritz 9 book is standard write-protected (?)

Engine sizes:
Fritz 9 : 436 KB
Fritz 960 : 536 KB
Fritz Giveaway : 16 MB (includes 'rules' to losing chess suppose..)

Fritz 9 Book : 217 MB

First engine-impressions: much more selective; pretty quick on tactical
test-suite.

New benchmark utility provided: Fritz Chess Benchmark.exe
Kinda resembles Axon benchmark..
My speedup vs a PIII 1Ghz is 2.22 (I have a lousy P4..)

Also Installed the engine on the Shredder 9 GUI XP-Home (yes, CB-version...)

Okay, off for some blitz-ga... Serious Time-Control I mean ;)

Oh, the 'talk' files are back again... (didn't install them.. but I_do_like the
coughing actually, so I might install them anyway.)

Rick
