This reminds me of the time, when I bought Turbo-C over 15 years ago. It came with a licence, that allowed me to install it on as many computers as I wanted. But one had to use it like a book. I can take a book with me from the living room to the kitchen and then to the bathroom. But I can only read it in one room at a time. I might be able to still find the original text of that licence. At that time, I thought, this was a very generous licence, especially for a C-compiler: I never had the demand, to use it on more than one computer at the same time. This licencing model would even work for a chess engine in many circumstances - but not all. You mentioned analysing different positions on different computers as an example. Another example would be to do test games on several computers (for example with my engine with slightly different settings against the same commercial engine on different computers). Regards, Dieter
