You can still track down a few 6809 & 6309's without too much effort. Don't know how well you can overclock a 6309, but certainly more than the original 6809. And there is at least one open source clone of the 6809. OpenCores.org has one, and I think one or two other versions exist, too. Plus a few commercial ones. They probably aren't pin compatable, but are at least instruction compatable.
