As I recall, both machines are using the largest hash table they can within the memory configuration of the test machines. HIARCS, as a DOS, spartan program, has access to 63Mb for hash tables. Fritz, a Windows program has less memory available for hash after Windows and it's own overhead. So, basically, HIARCS is getting a (very slight) edge for more efficient usage. I sort of recall that the test machines only have 64Mb RAM. Other people commented that they could give Fritz bigger hash tables, but I think that was because they had 128Mb RAM, or such. Richard A.
