Subject: Re: Arena book -- Use transpositions?

Go up one level in this thread

This means that if one of the books opening lines is arrives at a position that
is also in the opening book by a different move order (as is sometimes the
case), the book will be able to transpose between them (i.e. to use either line
and continue).

For example......

1. Nf3 d5 2. d4 Bf5

Or

1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 Bf5

Of course both lines need to be present in the book to allow this to happen, but
if they are, it allows for more opening diversity.

I would say that I personally have this switched on as a matter of principle.

You get more diverse games if you do.
