>Yeah, me too.....Can you think of any disadvantage(s) if it is turned on? >I ask because i wonder why they have it as an option to disable it, as it should >always be ON....... Not quite true but in general yes. You may want your Pirc to proceed as a Pirc and not turn into a King's Indian Defence for example (or even a Modern etc). In this instance you have both options. Many openings have their own distinctive flavour and switching transpositions off in an opening book can allow the opening to develop along that openings specific theory without diversification. I have to admit that I do not tend to use opening books that often with what I do in computer chess. Surprising maybe as my main interest is opening theory. Interesting for me is how engines play when given no help, transposed or otherwise. This is why Chess960 is very important in the ever increasing knowledge we gain about chess and getting closer to it being solved. It never will of course in our lifetimes, but there is a consensus of opinion that says that there is "a right way to play chess". This is where all the hard work of programmers is appreciated by me in particular. You see, there must be one (or a few) right ways to play chess. Regards Chris
