>I don't approve of plagiarism either. What >does this have to do with Fritz 9 engine? There are two things going on here. One is the need for a better quality chess engine which I am sorry, Fritz is not in my opinion. (Compare with another ChessBase engines like Shredder for example which DOES understand the rules) The other is that the positions are used to check the way an engine is coded. This way we know by checking similarity with other open source engines when someone is "at it". >Sorry but that is not proof that Fritz 9 has a problem. Maybe it is proof that >Chessbase 8 or below does. Yes it is a proof. The GUI should not interpret the rules for an engine. The engine is exposed by older GUI's because the older GUI's are not telling the engine the rules. Brain surgery is not required to understand this. >>Look.....here is their office. ;) >> >>http://www.fetchfido.co.uk/games/magnetcote/magnetcote.htm > >What is this? > >> >>Type in "Fritz9 does not work" and watch a how a typical support request is >>dealt with..... > >That is your idea of a bug report? Why bother? It's humour.....but quite realistic humour. This is a parody of support from ChessBase. If you don't understand the realism behind the joke....fair enough, I can't help you. However, many in here know just how deaf ChessBase as an organisation are to their customers. If ChessBase need to be shamed into producing the products that work properly, then shamed they will be.......always. That however is a side issue in this matter. Apert from all of these very relevant points consider this important fact...... 1. ChessBase do not make the strongest engines anymore. 2. They make buggy software. 3. To add insult to injury charge exorbitantly for their buggy software. They have got away with it for too long and they shall not pass anymore. Most have a choice and can vote with their feet as required. It is down to personally preference. I personally like real chess engines that can be played in a standalone way. I also want where possible to use those engines in a GUI of my choice. Not something that has more crashes than Evil Kinevil. They are getting there very very slowly. Too slowly. First a bad implementation of Winboard (ask around) then UCI (as around) and now a really rotten implementation of Chess960 with no regard for existing standards. I think we are just about done here, until the next ADVERT for ChessBase buggy software appears here. At that point I hope they have their flak jackets on. You see at least half of the "Fritz9" messages in this forum are by ChessBase themselves and we know it. Pat yourself on your own back why don't they..... Job not well done. I was bought Fritz9 by the way, believe it or not, as a present...... With friends like these........pah. :) Chris
