Subject: A present for Steve B ....

Author: Mike Byrne

Hi Steve B,

A present for you, suitable for framing.

Two games played by GM Roman Dzindzichashvili and the Mephisto Genius 68030 that
is currently in your custody. There were a number of other games that teh
Mephisto 68030 against GM's on ICC, but the gamescore are most likely lost
forever.

Keen observers will note that operator (me!) turned down the draw by repetition
on 43. Qe5+ much to my regret later.

The time control of 2 6 was the slowest increment Roman would agreed to. I
would set the Genius to about about 4 seconds per move and hope that would be
enough.

At the time the game was played , Roman was was rated about 2860 on ICC and
2540 by FIDE , the Genius 68030 was rated about 2660 on ICC.

A little background on GM Roman Dzindzichashvili.

Shortly after leaving the USSR in 1976, Roman's world ranking skyrocketed and in
1978 Roman became the 15th ranked chessplayer in the world. This was no doubt
fueled by his first place finish in the 1977 Hastings tournament, an event he
would have not been allowed to participate if he had stayed in the USSR.

Enough background - the games.
