Subject: Game 2: Fruit 2.2 - Deep Shredder 9.02; long T/C; two fast computers

Author: Peter Kasinski

Date: 09:32:08 10/03/05

- Match of 24 games
- Fruit 2.2: FX-55 2.6 GHz; 512 Mb hash
- Deep Shredder 9.02 x64: Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz Dual Core; 1408Mb hash
- Shredder GUI, each engine using its own book
- Shredder with 3,4,5 and 138Gb of 6-man tablebases
- Time Control: 40 in 120, 20 in 60, rest in 30

Game 2: draw

Fruit in the lead 1.5 - 0.5
Next game overnight.

In game 2 Fruit came out of the opening fine but after accepting Shredder's
offer to trade queens it lost a pawn and its position quickly deteriorated. At
some point both engines considered Shredder significantly ahead (i.e. more than
just a pawn as per material). However, Fruit played the endgame very nicely and
by move 48 (record "think" by Shredder of over 20 minutes) Fruit already scores
it as a draw. Wonderful case of an active king dominating the endgame IMHO.
