How does CSTal 2 handicap its play (using the user-inputted value between 1 >and 50)? Any guesses as to what number corresponds to what Elo rating? Here is what I remember about CSTal 2.03. The strength is changed by somehow reducing the NPS searched. On my XP2400+ it searches around 50K/Nps with the setting at 50 (max). At a setting of 1 it drops to about 500 Nps. I tested it on ICC several years ago at the settings of 1 and 2 mixed. It carried a blitz rating of over 2000 on the lowest settings. While that is remarkable for 500 Nps search speed I believe many people playing it were simply intimidated by playing a computer. I still find it's playing style interesting and fun. > >2. Does it have book learning or some other way of repeating games? This I'm not sure of. I've never tested it for learning. I can find no file in the directory that would indicate it has any learning feature. However it could possibly he hidden from me. I did not make a big effort to check it. > >I should be receiving my "Chess Champion" version of CSTal 2 on Saturday - quite >excited about that!
