Author: Steve B

Date: 07:23:33 10/04/05

Well the Match Of The Century concludes with the R40 as Black essaying forth
my own personal favorite defense as Black ..the Petroff

the Tasc leaves book first at move 6 and for the first time in the match both
sides Castle Queen side

RES-FRUIT WCCC 05-WINS

14.Rxd5 !

I think the exchange sacrifice here is quite spectacular because there are no
immediate mating threats or even material gain
indeed the game goes on for another 13 moves until the R40 thinks its losing

14..cxd5 15.Re1 Qxe1+ 16.Nxe1 Rxe1+ 17.Kd2 Re4 18.Qa8+ Kd7 19.g3 Re6
20.Qxd5

[D] 5b1r/2pk1ppp/3pr3/3Q4/5B2/2P3P1/1PPK1P1P/8 b - - 0 20

the Material is now even but the Res-Fruit has a PV here of close to +3 and the
R40 -.26

not until the Res sacs the C pawn at move 27 does the Tasc realize its game is
in shambles

FINAL POSITION

[D] 2Q5/7p/5pp1/k7/2p5/4P1P1/1P1K3P/8 b - - 0 40

both had ample time on the clock and the R40 was returning a PV of -13.45 so i
decided to resign for it

FINAL MATCH SCORE
Res Fruit WCCC 05-7.5
Tasc R40 v2.5-2.5

what no dedicated chess computer could do for 10 years(including the
Res-Ruffian) ..Res-Fruit 05 does

Ruud Martin the inventor of the Resurrection and Fabien Letouzey are to be
highly congratulated for dethroning the KING of the dedicated chess computer
world

now sadly i will retire the R40 into my highly secured ,underground storage
vaults..with this last game forever retained in its CMOS memory

The End Of The Match And The End Of An Era Regards
Steve
