Another version of Pro Deo Vulcan actually does switch to 23.Rf1 at ply 18 after
first choosing 23.Qd2. Maybe it is an alternative for White to avoid a forced
draw? At the moment it is calculating 22.Rf1 at plydepth 19.00, it may take a
while. If Black's best reply is really 23..Kh7 White can play Qd2 at the next
move. But now pawn h6 is doubly defended and Qd2 becomes a full Knight
sacrifice!

Another Pro Deo note, I discovered a small (?) bug with Pro Deo in ChessPartner
communication: in positions where Pro Deo or Rebel 12 can promote a pawn to the
eight rank, this move is displayed as Move: a1 (1/39) depth=19 in the
Statistics Window, at the top, but the move list and PVs etc. are fine. Happens
with g7-pawns, h7-pawns etc. Still strange and because in KBPK bug there might
also be something with a pawn promotion or pawns at the eighth or seventh rank,
maybe Ed could take a look at it?
