This computer is built especially for Media handling - not particularly for running chess programs/tournaments. I'm not horribly familiar with this type of computer, myself, but I believe it will be rather slow with that OS, compared to the regular XP. Media center edition OS will not handle 64 bit programs. On the flat panel, I'd go for at least 17 inches, diagonal. Chess programs show a lot of info, and the extra viewing area will definitely come in handy. Especially if you run two chess programs at the same time. You probably know more about the pricing than I do, for sure. They're always changing, but keep looking around, and get one of the OS experts from here to give you the scoop on the Windows 64 version. I like the CPU, the DVD drive, and I'm neutral about the ATI card. I'm guessing you'll be using the HD's from the older computers for this new one? Dave
