Subject: Data mining for your favorite program?

Hi all,

When I saw the "proof" about Fritz9 playing more "human like" moves (link:
http://www.fritz9.de/experten/fritz9engine.htm), I immediately thought that the
Chessbase team did some data mining (i.e. look how Fritz9 does in 100 positions
and report the best 10 as a proof of "human like playing"), which is OK in my
view as Chessbase is commercial (and their results are right to a certain
extend).

I wonder if some of you would be interested to find positions where your
favorite program (commercial or not) would beat others so they could show their
best accomplishments on their web pages.

I have in mind the surprising 17..Na5!? in the first game of the match
Kramnik-Leko. A grandmaster told me (on another internet forum) that this
novelty was surprising as it wasn't any of Fritz8 5 best choices (I assume he
check that with some decent hardware). What about Shredder9 or Fruit 2.2?

What do you think? I would like to see the best recommendations of Fruit 2.2 (or
even 2.1) on their website and also those of Shredder9 or Hiarcs, Junior etc
(that competitors do not find), in the sens that they match stong GM moves.

As for myself I can barely contribute to this idea as I don't own a good
hardware nor most of the best programs.

Any volunteers? What do you think? A change from regular testing? More
interesting than reporting bugs? (I don't wan't to restart this discussion again
here however)

Cheers,

Marc-Olivier
