Thanks for all replies! I ended up choosing to use three windows: A board window, a move list window, and an analysis window. The move list and analysis windows are automatically hidden when I switch to another application. I wrote a first version this morning. At the moment, it looks like this: http://www.glaurungchess.com/New-scatha.png Some work remains before I can release it, though. Most notably, the clocks are still missing. I intend to put them at the top of the move list window. Tord
