Uri this will depend on if your friend wants a NEW computer or a USED computer on Ebay you can find old computers such as the Mephisto Miami which will play about 1900 Elo and it is portable..with peg sensory board if he must have a NEW computer then the strongest one avaialable today is the Novag Star Ruby it will cost about $125 but perhaps on Ebay you can find a new one for less it will also have lcd pieces and play at above 2000 Elo http://www.chessusa.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi?page=8/80-N18.html&item=80-N18 it contains the strong Wchess engine by Dave Kittenger even stronger is the Novag Star Sapphire -close to 2200 Elo but it is no longer made as new he could only get this as a used computer Best Steve
