In Fritz, when i load an engine to play, i go to opening books to pick the book to use. In the list is a number of ctg books, Fritz 8.ctg, Hiarcs 9.ctg., etc for example. And to the left of each of these is of course a file icon. But something strange happened. I extracted Perfect 8 thru Winrar to chessbase books and it loaded it in the list of books to pick to use inside Fritz. But i noticed that as soon as it was loaded, for some reason the file icons to the left of each book had changed. They were different. And instead , for example it saying Fritz 8.ctg, it now just says Fritz 8. The ctg is no longer there. At the bottom it still says the file name is ctg. and the file type is tree(ctg). And when you load the book to use, it does for example say at that point Fritz8.ctg That happened to all of them. But they do all seem to work right, and they do all say ctg when u load them. I am just curious as to why the above described changes took place. It doesnt make sense. I thought at first it might have something to do with having extracted it thru Winrar, but i had done Perfect 7.32 the same way, and it didnt happen then. Any suggestions from one of you really smart guys. thanks in advance George
