In the Chessbase GUI, I have found that if you just load Fruit 2.2 without
opening up the engine parameters, the settings are left alone (I think...but of
course you can't check !)

However, if you load the Fruit 2.2 engine and open the engine parameters, and
then close them with the "OK" button, that's when the CB GUI switches off
EXTENDED FUTILITY and HISTORY PRUNING (yes...it really does), thus weakening the
engine. If you close engine parameters using Cancel (rather than OK) it also
doesn;t change the settings. This has been my experince....anyone else can
confirm ?

When I first got Fruit 2.2 I didn't realise this and was losing frequently
against weaker programs. Since being made aware of it (via this forum - thanks)
then performance has increased dramatically.

Previous threads have suggested that this is being addressed but I can't recall
whetehr the fix will be in CB GUI update, or a Fruit 2.2 next relesae ? Does
anyone know ?

Regards,

Mark
