Hi Frank. I'm surprised you were'nt happy with the quality of your Novag Diablo.
I own a Novag Expert ( a few years earlier than the Diablo) and enjoy playing it
occasionally to this day. It had retailed at around $1000 Aust. at the time, I
bought it second hand when it was about a year old for $450. It only plays at
around 1800, pretty strong for those days, and about the same strength as myself.
It also has furniture value, and is a conversation piece. I'll never sell it.It
gives most of it's playing strength on the quick levels. My advice is to keep a
watchful eye on the market for the old dedicated chess computers, some are quite
rare. Novag had one with a mechanical arm that reached out and moved the pieces
like a little crane. A real collectors' item.
