chessmaster 6000 with its 300,000 game database is worth its price! buy it from ebay and bid only until $20.00! i got mine for only $18.00! this is a real good program where your buck really gets a good bang. you might spend a total of $23.00, that's including the mailing costs and all. you can't go wrong with this buy. the others are too expensive, like the hiarcs. much better, download hyatt's crafty and that is for free or even phalanx or the bionic. for someone between the strength of 1600-2000, these programs:chessmaster 6000, crafty, phalanx and bionic should offer much pleasure and learning. another choice: get yourself extreme chess...which is an earlier fritz but this is a real good program or even chessmaster 4000 or 5000....both programs are going real cheap. Extreme is not worth more than $20.00 and chessmaster 4000 is like $10.00, chessmaster 5000 is probably worth $15.00. let me repeat...you can have a formidable array of chess programs without over extending your budget. good luck with your chess....alfred......
