Thanks for the tip. I loaded IE separate from AOL, and under Tools/Internet
Options/Advanced, i did find this option ...

Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL compatability

It was unchecked (disabled).

The only other FTP option is ...

Enable folder view for FTP sites

It is checked (enabled).
