Let me explain my opinions about this in some more detail: Cloning is probably the most serious crime you can commit in computer chess, particularly if you try to sell the clone. It is therefore very important that the cloners get caught, and that the findings are made public. It is no less important, however, that public accusations of cloning are not made lightly. We are talking about a serious crime (within the context of computer chess), after all. It is extremely rude to accuse somebody of cloning just because you dislike the author, want to see a fight, or whatever. You really need some solid evidence. That the program scores comparatively better against program X than against programs Y and Z in the first 40 (!) games played hardly qualifies as solid evidence (putting it mildly). In the case of List, we should also not forget that we are talking about a commercial program. Fritz is trying to earn some money from his hard work. I really don't want to see him lose money because of some completely unfounded speculations that his program might be a clone. P.S. I am going to France for a week tonight and will not have Internet access while I am there. I will therefore not be able to follow this discussion after 18:00 or so this evening Tord
