Subject: Question for Don Daily

Don:

I have a question:

someone that claims to have been working with you in 1986 has made some
pretty serious accusations in rec.games.chess.computer about the 1986
world computer chess tournament. IE he directly accused Tony Marsland of
cheating in the game between your program (Rex I think) and Awit.

Do you have any recollections of what might have prompted such a statement.
I suspect that 'something else' is going on, but have no idea what at the
present. But such a statement seems outrageous. He also said 'massive
cheating on the top boards'. But when I challenged him, the only point he
has been able to bring up was our 4th round game that was adjudicated because
we ran up against our machine time limit and lost the machine about 6 hours
into the game (this was announced before the round as we always did, you
probably recall).

So any idea what might be going on here?

Bob
