The game continued Kf5 Kb5, Ke4? ... so I should have included that position also. Here's my guess as to what happened. Genius initially had Kxe5 as the initial choice but sees that it leads to a draw. Thinking it could win it chooses an alternative move, Kf5, but lacked the time to fully appreciate that this is no better. Someone explained something like this once, when a program takes a big drop in its eval it is left to scramble for another choice with little time on the clock to adequately come up with a decent move. Kf5 is just silly.
