Note that I understood that Graham used the opening position and not nunn
positions or other positions as a starting point for his games.

If I understood it correctly it is a difference relative to CEGT conditions when
engines do not play moves like 1.e4 based on calculation but get some moves
before they are out of book.

Of course with no learning repeating games from the opening position against the
same opponent may be very boring because you can expect to see the same game
again and again but in graham's tournament it is no problem because 2 engines do
not play twice with the same colour based on my understanding.
