Now is there something faster? >S.Taylor The Athlon FX-57 (2.8GHz) is currently the fastest single core processor made by AMD, the Athlon X2 4800+ (2.4GHz) is currently the fastest dual core. Just to give you an idea of how fast the Athlon 64 is in 64 bit mode relative to a Pentium 4, here is a quick Crafty v19.19 BH benchmark I did: Pentium 4 (Northwood) 3GHz: 1209520 nodes/second Athlon 64 3700+ (2.2GHz) @ 2.8GHz: 2719061 nodes/second So, the P4 would need to run "about" 7GHz to equal the A64 in 64 bit mode. I also hear the 64 bit Pentium 4's aren't quite as fast as the Athlon 64's at chess, I'd need to verify that for myself though. Also the Prescott core is slower than the Northwood (all newer P4s are Prescotts), so the latest Pentium 4's may run slower than the one above.
