Hi: I agree with you. Perhaps I exagerated a bit... Sometimes you must exagerate to make a point. In the case you describe you are fully right of course. Chess can be a kind of scape from worst things. Nevertheless, we should always keeps an eye over it. Chess must not become THE thing. That is good for people like Kasparov that at least will give the world some pretty games, but for just an smart guy, child or grown up, better to put it in the department of hobbies and nothing more.
