Subject: Losing those bullet matches for lack of timestamp?

Why is there no timestamp for the Pocket PC?

For those who have been bugging me about this, all I have is a quick hack for a
limited scenario.

The delay on the internet can be several seconds, but the delay between machines
on your wireless network is much less. So, the hack is to run timestamp on a
machine that supports it on your wireless network and then have your Pocket PC
connect to that machine.

Here's how you do it:

1. Download RemoteThinker from the ChessThinker site.
2. Run RemoteThinker on a PC, like so:
remotethinker "c:\wb\timestamp.exe chessclub.com 23" 4000
where, 4000 is some port number that you pick.
3. On your Pocket PC, run ThinkerBoard, and on the server option, specify
something like:
192.168.0.5:4000
where 192.168.0.5 is the IP address of you desktop PC, and 4000 is the port
number that you gave to RemoteThinker.
You can also enter the machine name instead of the IP address, if your network
has some name resolution service. An example is:
my-den-pc:4000

You are now free to roam in your neighborhood, with no fear of the dreaded lag.
