Enam, the "9" is just a program version number, not a series. It's an arbitrary number that shows how often the programmer has changed his program for a new release. Otherwise Chess Tiger 15 would be much better than the two programs you mentioned. On the other hand, version numbers do have a psychological significance. Do you remember the war between Microsoft Word and Word Perfect in the early 90's? Word Perfect released the first Windows version of their program, "Word Perfect 5.2 for Windows". Then Microsoft released their first Windows version, "Word 1.0 for Windows". Then Word Perfect released "Word Perfect 6 for Windows". Then Microsoft released their next version, which they called "Word 6.0 for Windows", skipping versions 2 to 5 so that nobody would get the impression they were lagging behind. Which they were, of course... until Novell bought Word Perfect, fired most of its programmers and permamently wrecked WP's position as market leader. But that's another story.....
