I tried again with the Fritz 8 GUI today. At first I thought it was okay, but
after about two and a half hours I noticed the same behaviour. Just for about 2
minutes, then things went back to normal. The problem is that I have to sit in
front of my PC, staring at the screen, waiting for it to happen. If I miss it,
there's no way for me to know it's happened.

I have another PC that uses Windows 98. It "only" has 512 MB Ram, and I just set
a 64 MB hash size, but I don't notice any problems with unnecessary disk
swapping.

To repeat my initial question: is there any way to prevent Windows XP from
swapping memory out unnecessarily?
