This is a legitimate approach, just like "engines-only" is, too. But if you want
a really complete comparison of anything, it should include ponder = on. :) (Of
course not on single cpu)

The WBEC Ridderkerk ratings are based on tournaments played with 40/40, ponder =
on. I don't know the computer speed. But those include only winboard engines and
some uci engines with adapter. The SSDF plays with two computers each, 40/2h and
ponder = on, but ignores most freeware engines. Like these, the Chessfun ratings
are with own books, but ponder = off.

I am not aware of ponder = on ratings which include own books and all types of
engines.
