The other day at my kid's soccer game, the other team was offsides, and the linesman indicated this with his flag, as the ball was kicked weakly toward the goalie, who was playing way out. He ran out above the box and grabbed it. Hand ball. The goalie complained bitterly, but to no avail. A moment later a free kick from above the box and it's 2-1 the wrong way. The game ended up something like 5-1. bruce
