I do not know if Fritz9 has better knowledge and writing the relevant knowledge with no bugs is a lot of work but I am sure that knowledge in pawn endgame is important because there are a lot of positions that the win is many plies forward and you see that you win a pawn for the simple fact that your king is closer to the opponent pawn without doing brute search of every possibility.
