>Btw, have you tried to find someone who can replace the display in your Savant?
>(i.e. Ruud's new display comes to mind when thinking about it...)

sadly i think this is not possible

the display in the Savants were not like any other ever made
the first touch screen move input system...it contained small black particles
(like grains of sand) that would fill the screen when touched and then
highlighted by a back lighting system

over the years these particles either evaporated leaving a totally blank screen
or expanded covering the screen in a black coating

so today all screens are either blank or blackened

interestingly enough however is that in some Savants the actual processor can
still work and the screen can still be sensitive to the touch move.
if the Savant is attached to the Novag Printer in these machines, games can
still be played
i have two such Savants

in addition i have a Savant where the pieces can still be seen and the screen is
not totally dark(or blank) but its very very faint and the function keys no
longer work

another collector(Alwin Gruber) had a Savant that was working perfectly up to a
year ago,but i am told that now his screen is gone
:((
