Hi there! Few days ago I have got 80 WildCat games (blitz: game in 10 min) against Ufim and Delfi under Arena GUI. There was 5 time loses. This was big surprize for me, because WildCat uses very safe time management scheme for extremal time controls. WildCat can safely play with something like 'game in 10 seconds'. I run Arena myself and start looking for reasons. Here is the explanation: WildCat send to GUI all search info for every ply. Arena handle this info __VERY__ slowly. As result WildCat can't make even 30 moves under 'game in 10 sec'. I compiled special WildCat version that doesn't send to GUI any search info. This time it can make above 200 moves with 10 sec time control. For 'game in 1 sec' specaial compilation of WildCat can make about 40 moves. This is in accordance with others GUIs: WinBoard (with disabled 'Animate moving'!!!) and WildCatGUI. Now I have a big doubt about Arena useability with blitz time controls. Best wishes, Igor
