While anyone with even a small number of Dedicated Chess computers can be said to have a "Collection" this of course does not mean they are a Collector a Collector is someone who is actively engaged in the pursuit of acquiring computers ,has a good idea of what they are looking for(generally in the form of a search list) and has a certain level of knowledge over the years i have seen varying types of Collectors some "Come and Go",they Collect and then eventually lose interest in the hobby and either sell off all but a few computers or simply keep what they have and fade away into the night i can summarize the Different degrees of Collector as follow: Casual...a mild interest with a few computers in the collection and perhaps looking for a few very specific computers Blazing Comet..this species of Collector will blaze onto the scene in a brilliant flash of light buy up everything in site..then after a few months or a year.. passes over the horizon ..never to be heard from again Crash and Burn Meteorite..this variation of collector is like the Comet but with a major difference here we have someone who appears out of the Blue..starts trading and buying quite actively and then after a few years sells everything off and counts his profits.his knowledge on the subject can increase rapidly in a short period of time ..going from virtually nothing to quite formidable but all with the goal of enhancing the ultimate sell off Rank And File Collector..has been collecting actively for many years, has a solid collection of perhaps 50-150 computers with several Rare computers and a good idea of what they are searching for the knowledge level is also quite solid and will be in the Hobby for the long haul.. the "bread and butter" of the hobby Top Collector..generally the Premiere collector of his country with a vast collection and vast degree of knowledge.the collection will consist of a variety of all the Manufacturers and a sizeable amount of Rare items World Class Collector..Has been collecting for decades..has most of the rare computers and a collection numbering into the hundreds always on the prowl for the ultra rare computers and a deep knowledge of the computers generally has made some contribution to the hobby in a meaningful way i would guesstimate that perhaps there are about 100-150 total Collectors Worldwide Best Steve
