Maybe it is because fruit2.1 is open source so after reading the source you know
the weaknesses of it(no change from fruit2.1 to fruit2.2 in evaluation except
bonus for the side to move).

Maybe if Ed release the source of his evaluation function you will also be able
to beat prodeo.

If you think that prodeo has better positional understanding than fruit then it
may be productive if you give examples for these positions.
