It's not at all unusual for chess programmers to give bishops a higher weight in
the beginning of a game.
In Beowulf, at the beginning of a game:
/* parameter enum name def min max */
{"bishop_score", person_bishop_score, 325, 275, 375}
{"knight_score", person_knight_score, 320, 270, 370},
A bishop is worth 5 more centipawns than a knight (default is 325 for bishop and
320 for knight).
Users are allowed to adjust the parameters between min and max.
