Dual Core 3800 is the best price/performance dualcore processor. It is two AMD 64 2ghz (Venice 3200+) "connected" together. Good overclocker, runs on lower power compared to other dualcores, so it does not need big power supply. Performance of this CPU for chess is like dual opteron ! Dualcore is like dual processor. If engine supports multi processors, it will run on both CPU (Shredder7, Shredder8, all deep versions of other programs). If engine supports only single processor, you can run other things on the computer, when the engine is working, without slowing down the engine.
