Maybe I understand now.
When I insert
[snip]
into a message, that means that I have intentionally deleted part of the message
that I am responding to. Normally, I delete everything that is not essential so
that we won't have to read the same post over and over.
It means the same thing as:
[I removed stuff that I am not going to respond to since I am only talking about
the stuff I left behind]
{aside: my previous post was *not* what I posted. I don't know what happened to
the original, which looked much like this one.}
