As I see it, If you are running an engine - engine match, there is no problem. You can make adjustments in settings from match to match, and even from game to game. But tablebase usage is going to create a dilemma in a tournament setting. Here you have to make your settings at the beginning of the tournament, and any modifications made will cause the tourn. to start anew. So the beginning settings are going to have to be lived with for the whole tournament. A decision will have to be made. As i seeit, you will have to disable the use of tablebases altogether at the beginning, or leave them enabled. And what are you going to do when a program like this update coming out to Ktulu 7 wont accept tablebases. And it is playing a program like Junior or Fritz that is accessing them. Is that a level playing field. Would appreciate any input as to how some testers would handle a situeation like this. Regards, George
