That's a good argument, I guess I'd like to see testing both ways in ponder on matches. I think separate EGTBs for running two ponder off matches would be a clear win, though. As people have mentioned elsewhere, matches using tablebases can be hard on disk drives, so even if you are just using one tablebase directory it might be a good idea to keep them on a separate drive.
