Subject: Collector's Corner..Res-Fruit 05 vs. Res-Ruffian 2.1 Game 4

Author: Steve B

Date: 18:10:16 11/05/05

Res-Fruit has the White pieces again
in the game Res-Fruit is out of book at move 10

another surprising game in that RF is up two pawns in a R+P endgame and yet ..

Game Four.. DRAWN

[Date "2005.11.5"]

[Result "1/2-1/2"]

[D] 1r6/R3R2p/6pk/2r1p3/8/4PKP1/7P/8 b - - 0 51

RF's position appears quite overwhelming here
doubled rooks on the 7th rank and a better King position
indeed ..RF goes on to win two pawns shortly..

51.. Rf8+ 52.Ke4 Rc4+ 53.Kxe5 Rf5+ 54.Kd6 Kg5 55.Rxh7

[D] 8/R6R/3K2p1/5rk1/2r5/4P1P1/7P/8 b - - 0 55

and RF is up two pawns

55..Rb4 56.Rhb7 Rf6+ 57.Kc5 Re4 58.Re7 Rxe7 ??!!

[D] 8/R3r3/5rp1/2K3k1/8/4P1P1/7P/8 w - - 0 59

i would think this should be the losing move
keeping both Rooks on the board at least keeps the possibilty open for
perpetual checks when the White King draws near to support its extra pawns
but with this exchange Black is just down two pawns
however it somehow doesn't turn out this way..

59.Rxe7 Rf2 60.Rh7 Rd2 61.h3 Kf5 62.Rh4 Rd3
63.Rf4+ Ke5 64.Rg4 Rc3+ 65.Kb4 Rxe3 66.Rxg6 Kf5 67.Rg8 Kf6 68.h4 Kf7

73..Kg5
[D] 8/8/8/r5kP/2K3PR/8/8/8 w - - 0 74

RF seems to have underestimated this move
before the move is played its PV was about +2
as soon as the move is played by RR the PV plummets to close to 0

74.Rh2 Kxg4 75.h6 Ra8 76.h7 Rh8 77.Rg2+ Kf5 78.Rg7 Kf6 79.Rc7 Kg6 80.Kd4 Rxh7
1/2-1/2

FINAL POSITION
[D] 8/2R4r/6k1/8/3K4/8/8/8 w - - 0 81

Match Score-RF05 2.0
            RR 2.0

Getting Death Threats Regards
